Interview

What brought you to the Czech Republic, and what made you to join EUFRAT team?
I first came to the Czech Republic in 2000 to visit friends I had made in the UK and moved here in 2002 after I was asked to teach at a secondary school in Sedlčany. I joined Eufrat in 2005 after moving to Plzeň. At the time it was a new school in the city and the attitude was quite different to any of the others. I liked (and still do) the people and the more modern approach. I like the design element as well.

What is, in your opinion, the mission of a language tutor?
To instil in their students the desire to communicate.

What would your students say about you?
(Hopefully) that my lessons are friendly, energetic and fun, and that I’m easy to get on with.

And how would you describe your student?
Impossible to say... every student is different! But if I have to… “Motivated”.

Is there a lasting lesson you hope students take from your classes?
That no one should ever be embarrassed to talk or make mistakes. Communication is the key!

What is, according to you, the best thing about EUFRAT?
The friendly, yet professional environment of the school as a whole and the enthusiasm of the people who work there.

Is there a message you would like to send to your future students?
I’m looking forward to meeting you!

A Brief Quiz:

Favourite book: Anything by Neil Gaiman. Or Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead.
Movie:  Star Wars (the original) or Deadpool.
Band / Record: Too many to mention. Anything not too pop. And no “dechovka”!
Sea or mountains: I used to say sea, but now it’s mountains. Can I have mountains by the sea?
Summer or winter: Autumn :-)

Dog or cat: “CatDog” (yes, that’s a thing!)
